Gaia Scholarship

Posted on Jun 14th, 2008 by SaRah : Peaceful Vegan Princess SaRah
I have been a student for a few years now, and besides exams, one of the hardest things is paying for school. I was beyond thrilled and excited to find out about this scholarship and almost at the last minute but just in time to enter. Here are my responses to the questions, from my heart :)

What is your purpose? (25 words or less.) If you had to describe your calling in life, what would you say? What are you here

to do? What gift is yours to give to the world?

I think my purpose is to share love, compassion, knowledge, wisdom, friendship and faith with others especially those in need. And share a smile :)

What do you love, and how do (or will) your actions demonstrate this? (250 words or less.) We at Gaia believe that

following your heart is the best way to help the whole planet. What do you care about, and what do you most enjoy doing?

I love, love, love the simple things in life. Reading a good book, hanging out at the coffee shop with friends, watching a good movie, cooking and then eating a good meal and always constantly meeting new people. I love to learn new things and aspire to do that everyday. I am a vegan, environmentalist, activist, alternative medicine student, avid reader and rollerblader, animal lover and I recycle, reduce, re-use. I do everything I can to tread as lightly on the earth as possible and teach that to others. I value my health, joy, peace, inner beauty, my faith and all the wonderful people in my life. On a typical day you will find me singing at the top of my lungs to my favorite tunes and reading and writing almost constantly. I love people and I love this Earth. I am a good person because I am compassionate and it truly, genuinely comes from my heart and I truly believe in karma and positive energy and do everything I can to leave the earth better place for our future generation.

Write your ideal job description. (250 words or less.) Forget about job titles like 'doctor' or 'artist' or 'lawyer.' If you could get

paid just to live, how would you spend your time? What would you devote your life to? What would your days be like?

To just wake up everyday and know that what I am doing is giving me internal satisfaction and changing the lives of other people whether or not I make a lot of money doing it. I study Alternative Medicine and my main goal is to be a Holistic Nutritionist and Doctor of Naturopathy. I lost both of my parents at young ages to cancer and I realized not only was it not genetic but not environmental either. My emphasis is to teach people how to live healthy lives, eat better, exercise, reduce stress and use alternative methods and therapies to do so. I can also see myself helping those without health insurance get medical attention and access to nutritional information and alternatives to expensive medication and surgeries. I would spend my time traveling, helping those that don't have much and learning from them in the process, taking it one day at a time but always with the goal to be better, do better and live better and make the world a better place to live.
